IFP Training is a French public limited company with share capital of 2,688,000 euros, registered in Nanterre under number 449 340 116 and headquartered at 232 avenue Napoleon Bonaparte in Rueil-Malmaison, west of Paris. It belongs to the IFPEN group and trains professionals for the energy, mobility and environment industries, reporting 11,000 people trained during 2025 and a teaching roster of roughly 300 lecturers and consultants.

Course catalogue

The catalogue runs to nearly a thousand courses, sold as inter-company sessions, in-company programmes and fully customised paths, with distance learning and apprenticeship routes alongside classroom teaching. Subjects are grouped by industry domain.

  • Oil and gas, from exploration and reservoir work through drilling, production and field operations
  • Refining, petrochemicals and chemicals
  • Gas, hydrogen, biofuels, e-fuels and sustainable aviation fuels
  • CCUS, geothermal, electricity, energy efficiency and energy transition topics
  • Battery and electricity storage, nuclear, engine development and sustainable mobility

The company also sells competency management and skills validation: national and international certifications, its own IFP Training certificates, and on-the-job skills assessment. Master's-level programmes are run in partnership with IFP School.

Training centres

Five centres in France carry the practical side of the offer: Rueil-Malmaison, Lillebonne, Pau, Solaize and La Mede. Each combines simulators, test benches and laboratories with industrial units converted into teaching equipment, so that operators and engineers practise on hardware close to what they meet on site. A Middle East training and consulting subsidiary and an international network bring the same courses to clients outside France.

History

The organisation began in 1975 as ENSPM - Formation Industrie. Centres opened between 1978 and 1991 in Rueil-Malmaison, Martigues (later moved to La Mede), Pau and Lillebonne. International development started in 1980, the first Brevet Operateur session followed in 1985, and an apprentice training centre was added in 1995. A first Master's degree with IFP School was delivered for the Nigerian institute IPES in 2003, the same period in which the business took the name IFP Training. The Middle East subsidiary dates from 2011, the Alliance4Training brand was created in 2021 with TotalEnergies Learning Solutions, and a Saudi Arabian subsidiary was being opened at the time of writing in 2026.

Quality, group and contacts

The company publishes quality, HSE, disability, CSR and ethics policies, holds Qualiopi certification for French training provision and operates inside the IFPEN group, whose research base and Axens refining technologies sit alongside it. IFP Training's own figures for 2025 record an overall session assessment of 92 per cent, 91 per cent of participants recommending the company, 96 per cent satisfaction with lecturer expertise and 95 per cent with teaching quality. The legal notice names Remi Mouchel as director of operations and president of the board, Benoit Mourez as secretary general and Loic du Rusquec as commercial and marketing director. The switchboard number is +33 1 41 39 12 12; enquiries are taken through the website contact form rather than a published general mailbox. The company presents itself as a certifying body in its own right and publishes a code of ethical conduct in French and English alongside its quality, HSE, CSR and disability commitments, its catalogue downloads and a client FAQ.
