What Oil-Gas.net is

Oil-Gas.net is an engineering platform for the oil and gas industry. It is built for the people who design, operate and maintain plants, pipelines and offshore facilities — engineers, technicians, supervisors and the companies that serve them.

Our story

The idea behind Oil-Gas.net goes back to 2015, when a group of engineers working in oil and gas started an internal chat group to share content, ideas and tools with one another.

In 2022 we turned that exchange into a website of articles, so that many more engineers and technicians could benefit from it. The site has kept growing since then. Today it brings together technical articles, industry news, a company directory, engineering jobs, free downloadable files, and calculators and unit converters — in six languages.

What you will find here

  • Technical articles — practical guides on instrumentation and control, rotating equipment, reliability, process safety, corrosion, piping and operations, written for engineers who make real decisions in the field.
  • Industry news — a daily selection of the developments that matter to practising engineers: projects, incidents and lessons learned, regulation and technology. Every news item links to its original sources.
  • Calculators and converters — engineering calculators and unit converters that run in your browser, free and without signing up.
  • Company directory — operators, contractors, manufacturers and service providers, searchable by discipline and country. Companies can claim and maintain their own profile.
  • Engineering jobs — vacancies from operators and contractors, with free e-mail alerts by discipline and location.
  • Free downloads — checklists, worksheets and templates for everyday engineering work.
  • Newsletter — the week's most useful articles, news and vacancies in one e-mail.

Our editorial standards

  • Sources first — technical content is built on published standards, manufacturer documentation and established engineering practice. Sources are listed at the end of each article.
  • Technical review — every article is reviewed by our editorial team before it is published, and the date of its last technical review is shown on the article. A claim that cannot be supported is removed; an article that cannot be supported is not published.
  • Corrections — when we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. Read the full editorial and corrections policy.

Our content is educational: it explains engineering practice but never replaces the applicable standards, vendor documentation or your site-specific procedures.

Practising engineers who would like to share their experience are welcome — see Write for us.

Six languages

Everything is published in English, Arabic, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian, so engineers across the Middle East, the CIS, Latin America and Europe can read it in their own language.

Independence

Oil-Gas.net is independent. Sponsored articles and placements are always clearly labelled, and some links to training courses and tools are affiliate links that may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. Neither ever changes what we cover or recommend — see our affiliate disclosure. Companies can advertise online through a self-serve account.
