Our standard
Accuracy is the core of what we publish. The editorial team is responsible for every page on Oil-Gas.net: for choosing sources, checking the content before it goes out, and correcting it when it is wrong.
How content is prepared and reviewed
- Sources first. Technical content rests on published standards, manufacturer documentation and established engineering practice. A claim that cannot be attributed to a source is removed.
- Technical review. Every article is reviewed by our editorial team before publication — facts, figures, units, formulas and the standards it refers to.
- Review date. Each article shows the date of its last technical review. We change that date only when an article has really been reviewed again, never for a cosmetic edit.
- News. News items are short summaries written from the sources they cite, and every item links to those sources.
We use digital tools, including automated and AI-assisted tools, to help prepare drafts and translations. Choosing sources, checking the content and correcting it remain the responsibility of the editorial team.
Paid content and conflicts of interest
- Sponsored articles are always labelled “Sponsored”, permanently, and are excluded from the technical-review statement. Payment buys placement; it never buys a conclusion, a ranking or a positive mention.
- We may refuse any sponsored article, advertisement or listing that is misleading, unsafe or not relevant to our readers.
- Affiliate links are disclosed on every page that carries one (see the affiliate disclosure). A commission never decides what we cover or recommend.
- The company directory applies the same criteria to free and paid listings; paid tiers are marked. A company cannot edit or approve our articles about it.
- Contributors must tell us about any link between themselves and a company or product they write about. Promotional writing is accepted only as a labelled sponsored article.
Found an error?
Use the “Report an error” link under any article, or e-mail [email protected] with the subject line “Correction” and include:
- the URL of the article,
- the sentence or figure that is wrong,
- the standard or source that contradicts it.
We check every report against the applicable standard and reply by e-mail, usually within two business days.
How corrections are recorded
- Minor corrections — typos, formatting, broken links — are made without a note.
- Substantive corrections — a figure, formula, unit, standard reference, or any statement that could affect a safety or design decision — are made in the article and recorded at its bottom with the date and what changed.
- When an article has been corrected after a technical re-check, its “last technical review” date is updated.
- If an error is serious and cannot be fixed quickly, the article is taken down until it is corrected.
Educational content
Our articles are educational. Always verify figures against the current edition of the applicable standards and your site-specific requirements before acting on them.
