Liberty Energy Inc. is a North American energy services company that completes wells for oil, natural gas and enhanced geothermal producers and increasingly supplies power to industrial and data-centre customers. Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Denver, Colorado, it is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol LBRT and is led by president and chief executive Ron Gusek. The company describes itself as one of the largest providers of completion services and technologies to onshore producers in North America.
Completion services
Hydraulic fracturing is the core business, supported by wireline and pumpdown perforating and by sand supply and logistics. Liberty handles last-mile proppant logistics and wellsite storage through PropX and supplies its own sand through Freedom Proppant, while its LAET arm designs and assembles fracturing equipment in house. The fleet technology programme is marketed as digiTechnologies and includes the digiFrac and digiPrime electric fleets and Quiet Fleets, which the company says cut emissions by almost half against conventional Tier IV diesel pumps and reduce fuel consumption. In the second quarter of 2026 Liberty began deploying its first digiPrime fleet in Canada for a cross-border customer, and it started commercial operations of SLXRRY, a proprietary last-mile sand slurry delivery system that reduces delivered sand costs, truck traffic, road wear and dust.
Second-quarter 2026 results
In results announced on 22 July 2026, Liberty reported second-quarter revenue of USD 1.19 billion, 14 per cent above the prior-year quarter and 16 per cent higher sequentially. Net income was USD 43 million, or USD 0.26 per fully diluted share, adjusted net income USD 14 million and adjusted EBITDA USD 151 million, down 16 per cent year on year but up 20 per cent from the first quarter. The company paid a quarterly cash dividend of USD 0.09 per Class A share, about USD 15 million in total, during the quarter, and on 14 July 2026 the board declared a further USD 0.09 per share payable on 18 September 2026 to holders of record on 4 September 2026. At 30 June 2026 Liberty held USD 555 million of cash and about USD 1.3 billion of total debt, mainly senior convertible notes issued in the first quarter, with no balance drawn on its asset-based revolving credit facility apart from USD 19 million of letters of credit, giving total liquidity of roughly USD 1.0 billion. Management linked the improved sequential result to a modest recovery in North American frac activity after cyclical lows, with fleet attrition and equipment cannibalisation having tightened supply, while warning that producer caution and the Iran conflict and Strait of Hormuz disruption continued to cloud the outlook.
Power generation and data centres
Liberty Power Innovations LLC, the company's power arm, designs, develops and operates modular distributed generation, energy storage and fleet electrification for commercial and industrial, data-centre, energy and mining customers, working with partners active in advanced nuclear, enhanced geothermal and battery storage. Liberty has said it plans to deploy approximately three gigawatts of power projects by 2029 and has secured long-term generation equipment purchases from Bergen Engines, Wartsila and other suppliers running to 2030; a separate agreement with Bergen Engines covers more than 500 megawatts of on-site generation for large data-centre developments in the United States. During 2026 the company set up Liberty Wholesale Commodities, extending its Chorus power offering into direct participation in the ERCOT market, which allows it to combine on-site generation with ERCOT and PJM market participation for large-load customers.
Partnerships announced in 2026
- On 22 July 2026 Liberty and PowerBridge LLC formed a strategic joint venture that combines PowerBridge's powered-campus development platform with Liberty Power Innovations' generation and energy management capabilities. Its initial scope is PowerBridge's Alpha Digital Campus, a planned two-gigawatt powered data-centre campus in West Texas, starting with more than 300 megawatts of generation capacity, first power delivery expected in the fourth quarter of 2027 and continued deployment through the first half of 2028. PowerBridge is headquartered in Houston and backed by Five Point Infrastructure.
- On 14 July 2026 Liberty and SLB announced an agreement to form a strategic alliance for data-centre projects worldwide, with SLB contributing modular infrastructure, project execution and global reach and Liberty contributing modular generation, behind-the-meter intelligent power controls and operations. SLB said it had shipped more than 1.3 gigawatts of prefabricated modular data-centre infrastructure since April 2024 and expected cumulative deliveries to exceed two gigawatts by the end of 2026.
