PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited, trading as PTTEP, is Thailand's national upstream petroleum company and was established on 20 June 1985 to explore, develop and produce oil and gas for the domestic market. Its head office is at 555/1 Energy Complex Building A on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road in Chatuchak, Bangkok, and its shares are listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand. PTT Public Company Limited held 63.79% of the shares as of 17 August 2026, and the company reported 62,004 shareholders and a free float of 34.70% as of February 2026. Montri Rawanchaikul is chief executive officer.

Thailand's gas heartland

The Gulf of Thailand remains the centre of the business. PTTEP won the bid for the G1/61 project, covering the Erawan, Platong, Satun and Funan fields, in 2018 and took over as operator under a production sharing contract signed in 2019, installing twelve wellhead platforms, laying subsea pipelines and drilling more than 300 wells to restore output. Production reached the contract level of 800 million standard cubic feet per day on 1 April 2024, contributing to lower domestic electricity costs, while the G2/61 project contains the Bongkot field. In the first half of 2026 the company kept natural gas production at full capacity to help offset the effect of the Middle East conflict on Thai energy supply.

The next Gulf development is Bussabong, in the eastern part of Block G3/65. PTTEP and its partner Valeura Energy, which holds a 40% non-operated interest, took a final investment decision in September 2026 on the first phase, which uses a phased development model suited to the field's fault-block reservoirs, with first gas targeted for 2028.

Malaysia-Thailand Joint Development Area

On 14 September 2026 the Malaysia-Thailand Joint Authority awarded a production sharing contract for Block A-18-01 to PTTEP JDX Thailand (JDA) Limited and PTTEP JDX Thailand Company Limited, subsidiaries of PTTEP, together with PC JDA Limited of Petronas Carigali. Each side holds 50% of the 35-year contract, which runs retroactively from 1 January 2026 and combines the existing producing Block A-18 with an adjacent exploration area. The partners also signed a gas sales agreement with Petronas and PTT Public Company Limited to support continued supply. The joint development area comprises Block A-18-01 and Block B-17-01 and covers roughly 7,250 square kilometres of the lower Gulf of Thailand, producing gas and condensate for both countries.

Results and shareholder returns

PTTEP announced its first-half 2026 performance and interim dividend on 31 July 2026. Average sales volume rose 14% year on year to 563,179 barrels of oil equivalent per day and the average selling price increased 10% to USD 49.54 per barrel of oil equivalent. Total revenue was THB 176,756 million and net income THB 39,032 million, equivalent to about USD 1,209 million. The board approved an interim dividend of THB 4.50 per share, with an ex-dividend date of 14 August 2026 and payment on 28 August 2026. During the half the company paid more than THB 27,700 million to the Thai government in income taxes, royalties and other remuneration. In the previous full year it contributed more than THB 50,450 million and paid a dividend of THB 9.625 per share, a year in which it also expanded its investments in the United Arab Emirates and Algeria.

Emissions, decommissioning and technology

The company's climate framework, EP Net Zero 2050, follows an earlier target of cutting greenhouse gas emissions intensity by at least 25% against a 2012 base, which it reported achieving in 2022. The current interim goals are reductions of at least 30% by 2030 and 50% by 2040 against a 2020 base, and net zero greenhouse gas emissions in 2050. PTTEP also signed the Oil and Gas Decarbonization Charter at the COP28 climate conference, committing to near-zero upstream methane emissions and zero routine flaring by 2030.

Offshore decommissioning has become a visible part of the work. In July 2026 the company reported Thailand's first total wellhead platform reuse, relocating a decommissioned platform to a new location to cut cost and extend the life of existing equipment, and it has worked with the Department of Fisheries to repurpose retired wellhead jackets as marine habitat. Technology and new energy activities sit in separate ventures, including AI and Robotics Ventures, FutureTech Energy Ventures and Xplor Ventures, which cover robotics, digital tools and lower-carbon businesses alongside the upstream core.
