ROSEN Group is a pipeline inspection and asset integrity company headquartered at Obere Spichermatt 14 in Stans, Switzerland, where the operating entity is ROSEN Swiss AG. It was founded in 1981 by Hermann Rosen as an engineering business and has grown to more than 4,000 employees working in over 110 countries from more than 25 locations. The group is privately held: a majority stake was sold to Partners Group, announced on 14 November 2023 and described by ROSEN as taking effect in 2024, with the founder reinvesting alongside the new owner.
Milestones in 2026
ROSEN is marking its 45th anniversary in 2026 under the motto 45 years of trusted innovation, tracing the business back to a small room above a garage. In the same year the American Society of Mechanical Engineers gave Hermann Rosen the IPCE Lifetime Achievement Honor at the International Pipeline Conference and Exposition in Calgary on 23 September 2026, an award presented every two years for contributions to pipeline safety and technology. The group also sponsors the Hermann Rosen Award for Pipeline Innovation within the ASME and IPCE framework; the 2026 winners were announced on 24 September 2026.
Inspection and diagnostic technology
The company's commercial position rests on proprietary in-line inspection tools and the data they produce. Products promoted during 2026 include RoCD EMAT-C Ultra, an electromagnetic acoustic transducer tool for crack detection in gas pipelines; a combined metal loss tool that runs MFL-A and MFL-C sensors to detect internal corrosion; MFL Data Fusion, which builds three-dimensional corrosion profiles from inspection data; and the Non-Intrusive Pipeline Assessment service, an above-ground inspection and integrity analysis method for pipelines that cannot be inspected internally. Development work referenced by the group covers artificial intelligence for faster and more reliable data processing, next-generation diagnostic systems and robotic units for infrastructure that is difficult to reach. ROSEN groups its research under four technology fields: sensors, where it works on quantum sensors and multimodal sensor fusion; artificial intelligence; autonomous robotics; and advanced materials. Manufacturing sits alongside research in the same part of the organisation, with the group stating that it produces its own inspection hardware.
Six lines of work
The portfolio is grouped into six service lines that cover the integrity process chain.
- Inspection: in-line inspection of pipelines and gathering of the baseline data used for threat and anomaly management.
- Non-destructive testing: field techniques that support timely maintenance and repair.
- Integrity assessments: engineers carry out thousands of assessments a year for pipeline and plant operators.
- Consultancy: principal engineers cover the disciplines needed for asset integrity problems.
- Software: asset integrity management platforms that give operators access to inspection and assessment results for decision-making.
- Cleaning: routine, pre-inspection and heavy-duty cleaning services and products.
Assets covered include pipelines, storage tanks and processing facilities, and the customer base spans oil and gas, mining and newer energy industries.
Regional expansion in Argentina
On 11 September 2026 ROSEN opened an operational office in Neuquén, Argentina, to sit closer to activity in the Vaca Muerta shale play and to the transport infrastructure being built for rising oil and gas output. The group says it has been present in the country for nearly 30 years and has inspected more than 130,000 kilometres of pipeline in Argentina over the past 15 years, with tools, equipment and specialists assigned regionally to shorten response times.
Corporate announcements are dated from the group's bases in Stans, Calgary and New York, reflecting the spread of its technical and commercial operations across Europe, North America and South America.
