TC Energy Corporation is a North American energy infrastructure company headquartered at 450 - 1 Street S.W. in Calgary, Alberta. Its common shares trade on the Toronto and New York stock exchanges under the symbol TRP. The company reports a natural gas pipeline network of 93,600 kilometres (58,100 miles) and says that network carries more than a quarter of the natural gas consumed each day across North America; it also reports roughly 4,650 megawatts of owned or operated power generation, more than three quarters of it from nuclear and renewable sources.
Gas transmission across three countries
The pipeline business moves gas from producing regions in Western Canada and the US to markets in Canada, the United States and Mexico. TC Energy's operations pages group the assets by country and describe a system built around long-haul transmission, storage and connections to local distribution companies, power generators and industrial users. The company presents the network as the backbone of its business and reports that it has delivered several annual records for volumes moved in recent years.
Named systems in the portfolio
Several of the company's systems are described individually on its operations pages.
- Canadian Mainline: delivers natural gas produced in Alberta and British Columbia to eastern Canadian markets.
- ANR Pipeline: moves gas from Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana to Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and Ohio.
- ANR Storage: fields linked to the ANR system with a combined maximum working capacity of 57 billion cubic feet.
- Bison Pipeline: 302 miles (486 km) of line from Wyoming through Montana into North Dakota, ending at a connection with another interstate system.
- Northern Border Pipeline: a 1,412-mile (2,272 km) system carrying Western Canada Sedimentary Basin gas, and US-produced gas, to Midwestern customers.
- Columbia Gas Transmission: a system that the company says has served Virginia and the wider region since the 1950s.
Liquids spin-off and company shape
TC Energy completed the spin-off of its liquids pipelines business, South Bow, on 1 October 2024, leaving the company focused on natural gas transmission and storage plus power. The site's copyright notice is held by TransCanada PipeLines Limited, an affiliate of TC Energy Corporation, reflecting the group's heritage under the TransCanada name. The company also reports that its natural gas network supplies more than 30 per cent of daily North American gas consumption; the same operations page elsewhere states a share of more than 25 per cent.
Power and energy solutions
Alongside pipelines, TC Energy owns and operates generation and describes a power and energy solutions business that sits next to the gas transmission division on its operations pages. Its power portfolio is reported at about 4,650 megawatts, with over three quarters classified as low-carbon electricity from nuclear and renewable sources. The company lists assets in Canada, Mexico and the United States across these two divisions and publishes separate operations maps for gas and for power and storage.
