Viridien is a French earth science, digital and data company listed on Euronext Paris under ISIN FR001400PVN6 and headquartered in Massy, south of Paris. It adopted the Viridien name in June 2024, launching the brand at the EAGE annual conference in Oslo, and describes itself as asset-light and focused on differentiated businesses. The rebrand completed a strategic shift announced in 2018 that saw the group divest its data acquisition activities and concentrate on three core areas: Geoscience, Earth Data and Sensing and Monitoring, with new businesses positioned for growth in low-carbon markets.
Business lines
- Geoscience - subsurface imaging services including full waveform inversion, ocean bottom node imaging and distributed acoustic sensing imaging, delivered from dedicated centres and cloud environments.
- Earth Data - the multi-client seismic library, the GeoVerse geological data library, well data and intelligence products, gravity and magnetics data and carbon storage screening studies.
- Sensing and Monitoring - Sercel seismic equipment, seismic operations expertise, structural and geotechnical infrastructure monitoring and marine surveillance.
- Digital Services - artificial intelligence and data transformation work, alongside high performance computing and cloud solutions.
- Satellite Mapping - optical imagery, radar imagery, elevation models and hydrocarbon seep mapping.
- Ventures - a venture building unit for new technology businesses.
Markets beyond oil and gas
Although oil and gas exploration remains the largest market, the company sells into carbon storage with imaging and screening services for CO2 storage sites, mining with mineral prospect generation, geophysical exploration data, orebody knowledge and mine site operational insights, and environmental work covering marine sensors, offshore monitoring and greenhouse gas monitoring. Other listed markets are infrastructure monitoring, defence surveillance, marine and offshore logistics with the Marlin software, and energy transition segments such as renewables and geothermal.
2026 trading and finances
Viridien reported second quarter and first half 2026 results on 30 July 2026. Net cash flow was USD 6 million in the second quarter, taking the first half to USD 32 million against USD 10 million a year earlier, supported by the asset-light model. Net debt excluding IFRS 16 fell to USD 692 million at the end of June 2026 from USD 856 million a year before. The Geoscience backlog stood at USD 306 million at end-June 2026, up 19 per cent on the end of December 2025. Segment revenue was USD 232 million in the quarter, 15 per cent lower year on year and affected by the conflict in the Middle East, mainly in Sensing and Monitoring, and segment adjusted EBITDA was USD 92 million; first half segment revenue was USD 446 million with adjusted EBITDA of USD 168 million. IFRS revenue for the quarter was USD 336 million. Chief executive Henning Berg said commercial momentum was improving as exploration and production companies moved to secure acreage, and the company maintained its full-year 2026 objective of USD 100 million in net cash flow despite market uncertainty. A third quarter results date is scheduled in the company's investor calendar.
Client programmes and equipment
Much of the geoscience work is delivered through dedicated imaging centres staffed for a single client. The company's news archive records long-running centre arrangements with OMV, PTTEP, Total and Equinor, among others, and a multi-year processing contract for ADNOC covering what the company described as the world's largest ocean bottom node survey. On the equipment side, Sercel supplies land acquisition systems including the 508XT and WiNG nodal units, Sentinel streamer systems, the GPR ocean bottom node, QuietSea marine mammal monitoring and SigmaWave distributed acoustic sensing, and the group also sells survey data through an online GeoStore and runs a Frontier Energy Network of regional client receptions and symposia in cities such as Luanda, Cairo, London, Kuala Lumpur and Houston.
Investors and governance
The investor section publishes quarterly and annual results, financial conferences and presentations, the universal registration document, bondholder and credit rating information, the general meeting calendar, shareholder structure and voting rights, and regulated information filings. The company reported first quarter 2026 results in May, held a combined general meeting on 3 June 2026 and scheduled third quarter 2026 results through its financial calendar. It reports under French national disclosure rules and communicates in both English and French, and contacts published for investors and the press are role-based addresses rather than a single switchboard, with an ethics committee mailbox provided for whistleblowing.
Contact
General enquiries are handled through a global contact form with topic and region selectors covering oil and gas, mining, carbon storage, defence, careers, ESG and media relations. Press releases carry a media relations contact, and the investor pages publish an investor relations address, so the group can be reached without a named individual being the only route in.
