Wild Well Control is a well control emergency response and engineering company based in Houston, Texas, where its world headquarters occupy 2202 Oil Center Court and its emergency lines (+1 281-784-4700 and +1-877-777-3150) are staffed around the clock. Founded in 1975, the company works for oil and gas operators on blowouts, well fires, pressure control problems and well integrity emergencies, and it also runs a substantial well control training business. It operates inside Superior Energy Services' Wellsite Solutions division, alongside Superior Completion Services, International Snubbing Services and International Production Services. Bryan Ellis has led Wild Well as president since 2018 and also presides over those sister companies; Jace Larrison is senior vice president of global operations and Christian Haustead is managing director for Asia Pacific.

Response and well engineering services

The response business handles onshore and offshore incidents, supported by equipment held at regional bases and by engineers who treat each event as a well integrity problem rather than only a surface firefighting job. Engineering work includes relief well planning and advanced well engineering, with wellsite supervision provided during relief drilling.

  • Emergency response services and incident management
  • Relief well engineering and advanced well engineering
  • Wellsite supervision
  • Unconventional intervention: hot tap, gate valve milling, freeze services and cutting services
  • WellCONTAINED capping systems, offered as global and regional response systems
  • Emergency response planning, drills, exercises, logistics and risk management under the SCERP heading

The One Response Alliance brings Wild Well together with Williams Fire and Hazard Control and Resolve Marine so that operators can call on one combined well control, industrial firefighting and marine response standard. The company states that it handles an estimated 80 per cent of the global well control response market and has capped hundreds of wells; beyond Houston it lists offices in eight other major cities, and its site publishes case studies, incident videos and a well engineering glossary.

Training and certification

Courses are delivered as e-learning, in-person sessions and WellSharp live courses, with supporting material also issued in Spanish and Portuguese. The 100CREW programme and a network of training locations are used to build and refresh crew competence for drilling, completion and intervention work. In September 2025 the company introduced SecureWell Certification, presented as the first programme dedicated to well control and containment for cased hole operations, taught through classroom sessions and hands-on field assessments.

Adjacent energy markets

Under an Energy Solutions heading Wild Well applies its pressure control and intervention experience to wells outside conventional oil and gas. The published scope covers carbon capture, utilisation and storage, geothermal wells and underground storage, all of which involve drilling, testing, monitoring and abandonment work with well integrity requirements similar to those in hydrocarbon wells.

Ownership, events and contacts

Wild Well is one of the operating brands of Superior Energy Services, the Houston-based oilfield products and services group that also owns completion tools, snubbing, rental and production services businesses. The company keeps a visible community programme: registration opened for its 30th Annual Golf Blowout, scheduled for 14 September 2026 at The Clubs of Kingwood in Texas in support of Shriners Children's Texas. An insurance alliance page addresses the risk-transfer side of well control work. General enquiries are handled at [email protected] and training bookings at [email protected], both published on the company's contact page.
