Williams is a midstream energy company headquartered at One Williams Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol WMB. Its annual report for 2025 counts operations in 11 supply areas that serve roughly 800 customers, and puts the group's interests at more than 32,000 miles of pipelines in 24 states and the Gulf of America, 35 natural gas processing plants, nine NGL fractionation facilities, about 23 million barrels of NGL storage and 423 billion cubic feet of gas storage. The company says it handles about one third of the natural gas used each day in the United States.
Transmission: Transco, Northwest and Gulfstream
Williams organises its business into Transmission & Gulf of Mexico, Northeast Gathering & Processing and West Gathering & Processing. The largest single asset is Transco, an interstate system that runs from Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and the Gulf of America through Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and further northeast, serving customers in 12 southeast and Atlantic seaboard states, including metropolitan areas in Georgia, Washington D.C., Maryland, North Carolina, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Northwest Pipeline (NWP) is a second interstate mainline system, running through the western United States. Williams holds 50 per cent of Gulfstream Natural Gas System, a Florida line with capacity to transport 1.4 Bcf per day, and operates it with the other owner.
Gathering, processing and storage
Beyond the mainlines, the company's upstream-facing assets are gathered in the Northeast and West segments. Gulf Coast Storage comprises about 230 miles of transmission pipelines and six underground storage facilities with roughly 120 Bcf of capacity across Louisiana and Mississippi, with direct connections to LNG export plants and interstate pipelines. NorTex adds about 94 miles of transmission and 37 Bcf of storage in the Dallas-Fort Worth market. Through the Appalachia Midstream investments, Williams operates and holds average interests of about 66 per cent in the Bradford Supply Hub and about 68 per cent in Marcellus South, together about 1,108 miles of gathering pipeline with capacity to gather 5,870 MMcf per day. The 50 per cent-owned Blue Racer Midstream joint venture holds 639 miles of gathering lines and the Natrium complex in Marshall County, West Virginia, with 800 MMcf per day of cryogenic processing capacity, about 134 thousand barrels per day of fractionation and approximately 220,000 barrels of NGL storage.
