Yokogawa Electric Corporation is an industrial automation and measurement company based in Musashino, western Tokyo. Its history begins in 1915, when Dr Tamisuke Yokogawa established an electric meter research institute in Shibuya, and the business was incorporated in 1920 as Yokogawa Electric Works Ltd. The company is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange under code 6841, reports its results in yen, and sells control, safety and measurement systems to process industries worldwide.
Reporting segments and product families
Yokogawa reports through three segments: the Control business, which supplies field sensors, analysers, production control systems, software and engineering services; Measuring Instruments; and New Businesses and Other. Most oil and gas products sit in the OpreX portfolio, where the Control and Safety Systems family contains the CENTUM VP distributed control system and the ProSafe-RS safety instrumented system, supported by the Plant Resource Manager package for field device management. Field instrumentation includes differential pressure transmitters, magnetic and Coriolis flow meters, gas chromatographs and process analysers, while software covers collaborative information servers, plant digital twins and integrated operations centres. In April 2026 the company released hardened cybersecurity functions for the CENTUM VP and ProSafe-RS integrated control and safety system, and in June 2026 it extended its OpreX Collaborative Information Server with additional integrated operations capability.
Oil, gas and LNG coverage
Yokogawa organises its oil and gas business into upstream, offshore floating units, terminals, pipelines, lube oil, and refining and petrochemicals, and treats the LNG chain as a separate industry with liquefaction, carrier, and regasification and storage sections. For floating production, storage and offloading vessels, floating LNG units and floating storage and regasification units, the company supplies the integrated control and safety system covering hull and topside control, subsea control and turret mooring interfaces. Other published solution areas include drone inspection of oil storage tanks for corrosion and leaks, gas leak detection by drone, robot patrols for facility monitoring, immersive virtual reality training for operators and maintenance crews, remote plant operation through an integrated operations centre, process digital twins for LNG plants and upstream facilities, carbon management, and plant cybersecurity management. Outside oil and gas the same products serve chemical, power, renewable energy, hydrogen, mining, cement, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, pulp and paper, iron and steel, water, battery, semiconductor, space and data centre customers.

- 10 September 2026: signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at advancing a nationwide hydrogen ecosystem in Slovenia, and on 2 September 2026 announced a distribution agreement for its products.
- November 2025: named among the suppliers covered by ADNOC framework agreements worth AED 2.6 billion in total for integrated control and safety systems, emergency shutdown, automation, control and monitoring and fire and gas systems.
Results for the year to March 2026
For the fiscal year ended 31 March 2026, Yokogawa reported consolidated orders of JPY 617.8 billion, up 3.2 percent, and sales of JPY 604.8 billion, up 7.5 percent, both record highs helped by large projects booked in earlier years. Operating income was JPY 82.6 billion, down 1.2 percent, as gross margin was affected by one-off factors and by price competition on strategic orders in the Control business, while profit attributable to owners of parent rose 11.5 percent to JPY 58.1 billion. Results were announced on 7 May 2026, alongside a revision to the consolidated forecast and a planned dividend increase for the year ending 31 March 2026. The company also continued to buy back its own shares during September 2026 under a repurchase programme notified to the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Manufacturing and environmental certification
Production is largely carried out by Yokogawa Manufacturing Corporation, whose plants include the Kofu factory in Yamanashi Prefecture, in operation since 1974 and a producer of differential pressure and pressure transmitters, together with the Komagane, Kanazawa and Komine factories. The company states that Yokogawa Electric and Yokogawa Manufacturing hold a single integrated ISO 14001 certification covering the headquarters and those four plants, and that the wider group holds ISO 14001 certification at major offices and manufacturing sites in Japan and abroad.
