Acuren (NYSE: TIC) is a provider of critical asset integrity services, operating primarily in North America for a broad range of industrial markets. Its work sits in the service category known as Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC): nondestructive testing (NDT) in the field and in the laboratory, in-lab destructive testing, engineering assessment, rope access and industrial services, and industry training. Much of this work is compliance-mandated and is performed at customer locations, and it is organized around the recurring maintenance needs of industrial operators.

What Acuren Does

Acuren has more than 40 years of experience in testing and inspection. Over that period the company has acquired more than 50 companies and launched more than 100 services, building a North American network of more than 80 locations staffed by more than 5,470 professionals across all industries. The company is headquartered in Houston and trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker TIC.

Acuren's merger with NV5 expanded its capabilities to include geospatial, infrastructure and compliance solutions, extending its offering to end-to-end TICC services across North America. More about the company and its services is available at acuren.com.

Service Lines

  • Engineering — engineers assess, validate and predict the performance of critical components, performing fitness-for-service evaluations, laboratory testing, failure analysis and mechanical testing.
  • Inspection — nondestructive testing and inspection delivered by skilled inspectors using advanced robotics, ultrasonics, radiography, eddy current and visual inspection, among other methods.
  • Rope Access Services — work at height carried out by rope access technicians supported by a full suite of industrial trades, including insulators, electricians and welders.
  • Industry Training — traditional and advanced NDT/NDE methods taught through structured safety, training and quality programs designed for consistent, repeatable results.

Inspection and NDT Capabilities

Acuren is the largest nondestructive testing and inspection company in North America, with technicians positioned across the continent. The inspection group applies advanced robotics, ultrasonic testing, radiography, eddy current and visual inspection to detect flaws in piping, pressure equipment, structures and other critical assets.

One example is flange face erosion and corrosion, a persistent problem in oil and gas operations where each flange connection is a link in the pipeline network. Acuren's Eclipse Scientific team used phased array ultrasonic testing (PAUT) for multi-angle inspections, developing software simulations to refine the technique before physical trials and validating it on samples with known defects. The result is a comprehensive flange scanning solution that detects corrosion at flange faces without disassembling the joint, avoiding the downtime and resource use of conventional visual inspection. The solution has been refined in the field with new frequencies, wedges and scanning tools, and by using non-specialized transducers and wedges the team has kept the technology practical and cost-effective to deploy.

Engineering and Integrity Services

Engineering work at Acuren covers fitness-for-service assessment, laboratory and mechanical testing, and failure analysis, supported by coast-to-coast teams that evaluate the performance of customer components. The engineering group also takes on design and consulting roles on pipeline and facility projects.

For a renewable natural gas (RNG) project in the Midwest, Acuren served as designer of the interconnect station and pipelines, delivering a comprehensive design package and consulting on implementation. The facility connects an anaerobic digester that converts cow manure into methane to a traditional natural gas transmission system. Acuren assisted the client's instrumentation team in selecting the analyzers needed to confirm gas quality, and the design includes a shut-in valve set that closes until the gas returns to specification. Acuren also acted as a continuous resource during construction, coordinating between the client, the inspection team and the future pipeline owner-operator so that requirements were clarified, adjustments made and approvals obtained.

Rope Access and Integrated Access Solutions

Acuren is the largest provider of rope access services in North America. Its rope access teams work to high industry standards and employ IRATA-certified technicians and IRATA Level 3 supervisors alongside industrial trades. Access planners work with a client's planning and execution teams to review work scopes that can be executed by rope access instead of scaffolding, reducing the time and cost tied to access. On maintenance and turnaround programs, this approach allows more work to be carried out concurrently, with scopes that have included visual, ultrasonic and magnetic particle testing, welding, pipe fitting, electrical work and sandblasting. Credentials held across these teams include CWB2, UT1, MT2, journeyman welder, CCO welder and journeyman pipe fitter.

Standards, Safety and Organization

Acuren's operations are supported by industry certifications and adherence to industry standards, with safety and quality programs governing inspection, training and field work. The company's culture is built on four values: People First, Integrity Always, Pride in Our Work, and Growth Together, with an emphasis on safety, respect and collaboration.

Acuren also maintains an Indigenous Policy covering respectful communication, inclusive business development and culturally sensitive employment practices, and supports sustainable community involvement. The company was named one of Canada's Best Employers for 2025 by Forbes, ranking #23 nationwide and #1 in Alberta. Its leadership team directs operations across engineering, inspection, rope access and training, with a stated commitment to continuous improvement in safety, quality and professionalism.
