AtkinsRéalis Group Inc. is an engineering services and nuclear company based in Montreal, Quebec, and listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker ATRL. It reports through three sectors — engineering services, nuclear and capital — and sells consulting, design, project delivery and asset support to clients in power, mining, water, transport, buildings and defence.

Two engineering lineages, one company

The present group was assembled from a Canadian consultancy and a British engineering firm, and the company's own timeline records the steps.

  • 1911: Arthur Surveyer, previously of the Canadian Department of Public Works, founds the practice that becomes SNC; by the early 1920s it is one of Montreal's main engineering suppliers to power projects.
  • 1930s: Emil Nenniger and George Chênevert lay the foundations of SNC, while Jean-Paul Lalonde and Roméo Valois form Lalonde, Valois International Limited in 1936; in the United Kingdom, Sir William Atkins establishes W. S. Atkins & Partners.
  • 1950s: Bernard Lamarre joins Lalonde, Valois and reorganises it as Lavalin.
  • 1991: SNC merges with Lavalin, and WS Atkins broadens its cost and project management capability by bringing in Faithful & Gould.
  • 2002: WS Atkins begins trading as Atkins. In 2010 it acquires PBS&J, a Florida engineering, planning and programme management business.
  • 2011: SNC-Lavalin buys the commercial reactor division of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited and creates CANDU Energy Inc.
  • 2014 and 2017: the oil and gas services contractor Kentz Corporation and then Atkins join the group.
  • 2023: the combined business launches under the AtkinsRéalis name.

Nuclear capability

Nuclear is the group's distinguishing business line. Its nuclear market pages group the work under new build, CANDU, AtkinsRéalis US Nuclear, reactor support and life extension, and environmental remediation. The CANDU organisation covers the Canadian heavy-water reactor fleet and the CANDU MONARK advanced reactor design, while life-extension work keeps operating stations running. The US nuclear unit is led by president Jeff Kendall from Knoxville, Tennessee, and sits alongside remediation work such as the vitrification programme at the Vitreous State Laboratory. Outside nuclear, noted projects carried on the group's site include the Muskrat Falls hydroelectric development, the Niobec mine expansion and Dubai Opera.

Markets and service lines

Eight markets are listed by the group: nuclear, power and renewables, minerals and metals, water, transportation, buildings and places, industrial, and defence. Services are sold as consulting, strategy and advisory; engineering and design; project and programme management; project delivery; operations and maintenance; decommissioning; and capital. Its media section carries trade releases, events and a download centre for reports, whitepapers and technical journals, and the group runs an inclusion programme called Everyone Belongs alongside its integrity and sustainability reporting. Delivery is organised regionally, with pages for Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East, Asia Pacific and Latin America, supported by engineering and technology centres that feed work into local teams. The company also runs an editorial hub on construction intelligence, cyber security, data and climate adaptation.

Investor reporting

AtkinsRéalis publishes its quarterly and annual reporting through an investor section that carries the 2025 annual integrated report and material for the 2026 annual meeting of shareholders alongside a financial calendar, an interactive analyst centre and the presentations from its 2024 investor day. Fourth-quarter 2025 results were released before the market opened on 27 February 2026, with a webcast at 8:00 a.m. Eastern presented by president and chief executive Ian L. Edwards and chief financial officer Jeff Bell; the first-half 2026 webcast is published in the same quick-links area. Investor relations is handled by vice-president Denis Jasmin at the Montreal head office.

Governance and contact

Integrity work sits with chief sustainability and integrity officer Hentie Dirker and is documented through a confidential reporting line, supplier requirements, a modern slavery and human trafficking statement, a human rights policy and a compliance procedure. Enquiries reach the group through web forms on its contact and media pages, including the global external communications and investor relations teams, rather than a published general mailbox.
