SEACOR Marine Holdings Inc. provides marine and support transportation to offshore energy facilities and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker SMHI. Its headquarters are at 12121 Wickchester Lane in Houston, Texas, and its operations and infrastructure are concentrated in the United States, mainly in the Gulf of America, together with Africa and Europe, the Middle East and Asia, and Latin America, principally Mexico and Guyana.

Vessel classes and specifications

The fleet is marketed in seven categories, and the published specifications for each class are detailed.

  • Platform supply vessels between 190 and more than 250 feet long, used to carry materials and equipment for deepwater drilling and production and fitted with dynamic positioning, methanol carrying capability, high-volume liquid mud and dry bulk tanks.
  • Hybrid platform supply vessels that pair battery power with diesel-electric propulsion, a configuration the company says cuts fuel burn during dynamic positioning and low-speed transits and can reduce emissions by as much as 20%.
  • Liftboats with leg lengths of 235 to 300 feet, certified to IMO SOLAS standards and American Bureau of Shipping requirements and able to work in water depths of up to 230 feet; the published list names the 300-class Falcon Diamond and Falcon Pearl and the 245-class SEACOR Hawk.
  • Fast support vessels, crew transfer and windfarm support vessels, anchor handling towing supply vessels, emergency response and rescue vessels and specialty units such as the featured SEACOR Paraná.

What the vessels do

SEACOR Marine's ships move cargo and personnel to offshore installations and offshore wind farms, assist production and storage facilities, support construction, well work-over, wind farm installation and decommissioning, and launch and recover equipment used in subsea drilling, maintenance and inspection. Liftboats provide a self-propelled stable platform for platform construction, inspection, maintenance and removal, well intervention, production enhancement, plugging and abandonment, pipeline work and diving. The vessels also carry emergency response duties and provide accommodation for technicians and specialists working offshore.

The company claims several industry firsts, among them the early use of catamarans in the oilfield, the first application of ride control technology and a monohull with airline-style pod seating, USB charging and LED lighting. A vessel search tool on the fleet pages lists individual ships with their specifications and a featured vessel profile is published alongside it.

Regional organisation

The company describes a presence on five continents with access to the major offshore oil and gas markets, and maintains four regional enquiry mailboxes: northamerica@, latinamerica@, europe@ and [email protected] for the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Its Dubai operation has been recognised with Green Shipping and Technical Innovation awards at the Seatrade Maritime Awards.
