Person in this position will be responsible for the design of centrifugal compressors. It includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components. Positions require understanding of concepts, methods and procedures used in the design of mechanical components for compression products. On this position you will be responsible to cooperate effectively with engineering suppliers to ensure smooth project execution and highest quality of technical documentation. On this position you be working across organization connecting engineering with manufacturing and testing departments.

This role is ideal for early-career mechanical engineers with initial experience in the Oil & Gas, energy, turbomachinery, or rotating equipment industries who are looking to further develop their expertise in centrifugal compressor design.

As a Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for

  • Leading and executing the compressor design process in the assigned role of Design Engineer (DE) or Mechanical Design Engineer (MDE), depending on project complexity and technical requirements.
  • Performing key calculations, sizing, stage selection, and mechanical analyses to define the machine configuration and to ensure technical compliance with project scope.
  • Collaborating with assigned engineering suppliers to coordinate project execution, while reviewing and validating 2D/3D designs and engineering calculations using Unigraphics NX.
  • Releasing documentation and BOM’s in a timely manner and in accordance with project plan (Teamcenter, SAP).
  • Leading design reviews throughout the engineering process to ensure the highest quality standards and full compliance with API 617, ASME, and other applicable industry standards.
  • Collaborating with manufacturing, quality and testing departments to support project execution.
  • Driving continuous improvement by capturing and sharing lessons learned across engineering teams, promoting technical excellence and knowledge transfer.

To be successful in this role you will

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of centrifugal compressor applications and related engineering principles, and have experience as a mechanical design engineer, preferably for centrifugal compressors.
  • Possess knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ANSI Y14.5 standards, along with basic knowledge of the mechanical analyses required for rotating equipment design, including rotor dynamics, stress analysis, and component sizing.
  • Bring basic knowledge about material selection, coating systems, welding processes, corrosion mechanisms, and non-destructive examination (NDE) techniques.
  • Be proficient in 3D CAD modeling, preferably using Siemens NX (Unigraphics NX).
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills in English and effectively collaborate within multicultural and cross-functional teams.
  • Successfully manage multiple priorities and deliverables while working in a project-driven environment.
  • Show a proactive, results-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Bring a Master’s degree in mechanical engineering from a recognized university, preferably in disciplines such as Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, or related fields.

Work in a way that works for you

We recognize that everyone is different and that the way in which people want to work and deliver at their best is different for everyone too. In this role, we can offer the following hybrid working patterns:

Working in a hybrid environment :This role requires a high level of autonomy, accountability, and ownership. Success depends on effective coordination with multiple internal and external stakeholders. Therefore, regular on-site presence is preferred to support collaboration, communication, and execution. During the initial onboarding and team integration phase, a full-time on-site presence (five days per week) will be expected for approximately 6-9 months. Thereafter, and depending on the performance and progress demonstrated within the role, the working arrangement may transition to a hybrid model with a minimum on-site presence of 3-4 days per week.
