How it works
Enter the flow, the pump head, the fluid density and the efficiencies. Hydraulic power = ρ · g · Q · H, shaft power = hydraulic power ÷ pump efficiency, and motor input = shaft power ÷ motor efficiency.
Formula
Pₕ = ρ · g · Q · H / 1000 (kW) · Pₛ = Pₕ / ηₚ · Pₑ = Pₛ / ηₘ
Assumptions and limits
Use the head at the duty point and the efficiency from the pump curve. The result does not include a design margin, so add the margin your pump standard requires before selecting a motor. The differential pressure shown is ρ · g · H for the density you entered.
For education and quick estimates only. Check the result against the applicable standards and your project data before using it in design, operation or safety decisions.
