NG Energy International has started production from the Aruchara-6 well at the Maria Conchita block in Colombia. The Canada-based gas producer is also running drilling operations at the Sinú-9 block, elsewhere in the country. The update covers two separate strands of work: one well that has reached the production stage, and another location where drilling is still in progress.

The Aruchara-6 well sits on the Maria Conchita block, one of the company's Colombian gas assets. Bringing a well from drilling into production marks the transition from well construction to ongoing output, the stage the industry describes as bringing a well onstream. For NG Energy, the milestone turns drilling activity at the site into producing capacity.

At the Sinú-9 block, drilling is under way but the well has not yet been reported as producing, placing that operation at an earlier stage than Aruchara-6. The company is therefore active on two fronts in Colombia at the same time, with output established at Maria Conchita and drilling continuing at Sinú-9. Running production and drilling in parallel is a common operating pattern for gas producers, allowing existing wells to keep delivering while new targets are tested.

For engineers tracking Colombian gas activity, the update confirms that NG Energy's programme in the country spans producing assets and active drilling. The company is based in Canada, with the two blocks named in the announcement both located in Colombia. No flow rates, reserve estimates, drilling timelines or start-up dates were provided, so further detail will be needed to gauge the contribution of the new production and the well still being drilled.
