DOF Group ASA has agreed to sell the Skandi Implementer, a subsea construction vessel built in 2018, to an undisclosed buyer. The vessel is planned to be delivered to its new owner in the second quarter of 2027. Beyond the delivery window, the announcement gives no details on the purchaser or the commercial terms of the deal.
A build year of 2018 places the vessel in the modern part of the subsea construction segment. Vessels of this type carry out the installation, inspection and maintenance of subsea infrastructure, and are contracted by operators and specialist contractors for offshore campaigns. Work of this kind spans new field developments, tie-back projects and the upkeep of existing installations, all of which require dedicated handling and intervention equipment on deck.
The 2027 delivery date means the vessel will remain in DOF's fleet and available for its current work for the time being, and no replacement capacity has been announced. Transactions of this kind are a routine part of fleet management among offshore vessel owners, who adjust their fleets as workloads and market conditions change. For DOF, the sale will reduce the number of subsea construction vessels it operates once the handover is complete.
For engineers and project planners who track vessel availability in the subsea segment, the transaction moves a modern, 2018-built unit from a known operator to an as-yet-unnamed owner. The buyer's identity, the price and the vessel's future employment are not public, so its availability for offshore campaigns after 2027 is currently unclear. Any further details will depend on disclosures from the parties as the delivery date approaches.
